Heritage Lets Properties

History

In 2005  we begun a programme of restoring some of the historic military sites, historic buildings and heritage cottages across the Island.  In 2006 the first restored forts, towers and cottages opened as ‘Heritage Lets’.

There are now 21 sites in the programme and the Heritage Lets scheme is now universally regarded as a great success. A significant number of commercially and culturally redundant  buildings at risk were given a long-term future and are now rented out as holiday cottages, towers and forts.   Each year the Heritage Lets are enjoyed by thousands of Islanders and tourists.

Funds earned from the Heritage Lets programme are ring-fenced for maintenance and development of further properties.

  • Fisherman's Cottage

    Star Rating

Wunderschönes gepflegtes Häuschen , mit viel Liebe renoviert.

We can only say one thing about the cottage itself: The photos on the website don't do it justice. It has been renovated with such attention to detail; you can see the illuminated attic through two glass panes in the bedroom and living room. It has a very large walk-in rain shower. The original beams, walls, and doors have been restored. Nothing was missing; we found more than we expected: firewood, adapters for electrical outlets, Monopoly, and all the amenities including bread, milk, butter, coffee... and, for me, a very important point: everything was clean and tidy. It's a shame that the neighboring park wasn't. We will definitely be back.

  • Radio Tower

    Star Rating

    Week stay in August 2025

Overall we enjoyed our stay and the lounge is excellent with amazing views. Kitchen good and well equipped. The bedrooms however were basic and lacked draw space and headroom. There are a number of places where height restrictions apply such as low ceilings and doors in the bedroom and on the stairs. This meant a lot of crouching down was required at times.

    A Magical Tower

This was a return trip to Archirondel Tower and I hope it won’t be the last! The setting is stunning. A wonderful escape!

  • The Cider Barn Apartment

    Star Rating

    Fantastic Stay!

The cider barn was really well fitted with the right amount of rural charm! We had a lovely time in the grounds on the evening and enjoyed a walk around the orchard. It was peaceful so we slept well, the rooms are comfortable. The site guardien in the morning was cheerful and allowed us to help him feed the chickens, which was a definite highlight. Would definitely stay again and recommend it for all.

  • The Stable Apartment

    Star Rating

    Hamptonne Stables Apartment

The family had a wonderful and unique stay at The Stables which is within the Hamptonne Country Life museum. The staff were really friendly and the flat was a great home from home. We helped feed the chickens, sheep and pigs every morning. Ideal for anybody with a love of animals and don’t mind a rooster as an alarm clock. We would definitely stay here again.
