Step into the spooky world of Hamptonne this half term and let your imagination run wild as you create your very own ghost story. Our resident ghost writer is running two special storytelling and creative writing workshops. Get tips and inspiration to bring to life your spooky tale.
Once you’ve written your story, why not take part in our Ghost Story Writing Competition? Stories should be no more than 1,000 words and there are two age categories to choose from – under 12s and age 12 and over. Entry is £2 per story and forms are available at all Jersey Heritage sites. As the days shorten and the nights draw in, we’re inviting budding writers of all ages to write us a ghost story. Grab your pen and let your imagination run wild to create an original spooky tale. Its £2 per story to enter the competition and stories should be a maximum of 1,000 words.
There are prizes to be won in two age categories – under 12s and 12 years and over. No AI-generated stories, please! We want to read stories created with your imagination. Competition entry forms are available at all Jersey Heritage sites and entries can be submitted at a site or emailed to events@jerseyheritage.org The closing date for entries is 14 November 2026.
Every spooky story submited will be displayed in the Cider Barn at Hamptonne throughout November, giving visitors the chance to discover the wonderful tales created by our storytellers
