Mark Lamerton is widely considered to have written the definitive work on the Liberation. In the run-up to the 50th anniversary celebrations in 1995, Mark was surprised there was no in-depth book on the subject so he set about correcting things. The result was his two-volume limited edition, 'Liberated by Force 135. Operation ‘Nestegg’: The planning, reoccupation, reorganisation and rehabilitation of the Channel Islands, September 1943 - August 1945'. It contains almost 1,000 illustrations. Since 1994, Mark has been involved in numerous Liberation projects, exhibitions, articles and publications.

His talk will explain the reasons for researching and writing about the Liberation of the Channel Islands, briefly describe the signing of the terms of unconditional surrender, focus on the events on Jersey’s Liberation Day and give an overview on the subsequent arrival of the main body of Force 135.

Signed copies of his publication can be obtained directly from him at liberationlamerton@gmail.com. Alternatively, a number of book sets will be available on the day. Price: £39.00.
