Jeanne was a woman of the Island, quietly skilled in herbs and remedies, who tended the sick when doctors were few and fear ran high. Some saw her as a healer; others whispered that she brought harm.

In the winter of 1585, suspicion caught her in its cruel grip. Accused of witchcraft, she was condemned to die in St Ouen – punished not for evil but for knowledge and independence in a world desperate for someone to blame.
