Originally known as the New Castle, it was named by Sir Walter Raleigh (who was the Governor of Jersey from 1600 to 1603) in honour of Queen Elizabeth I. Enjoy the castle from your front room by listening to our audio tour.
Tours of the Castle & Living History
From the 1st May there is a free tour of the castle every Monday and Friday morning (normal entry fee applies). You'll be taken by our experts to different parts of the castle and you'll be able to visit the Barracks Hospital Block - one of the buildings we want to restore - which is ususally closed to the public. You'll also be able to see some amazing Living History with our excellent team who bring history to life. Find out more here.
