- La Hougue Bie
Follow the haunting melodies of the flute to find Rosel the Bard, a captivating character and storyteller at La Hougue Bie. Listen to tales of olde as Rosel’s stories carry you through the ages, invoking the magic and mystery of Jersey’s folklore.
Jersey is steeped in a rich tradition of myths passed down through the centuries. The Island’s isolation from mainland Europe and its mix of Celt, Norse and French influences have coloured its unique folklore, which is intertwined with tales of dragons and ghostly brides, and dogs and mysterious beasts that may (or may not) have roamed the Island.
These legends, whether chilling or comforting, are part of the very fabric of Jersey, preserved through centuries of oral tradition to keep the Island’s mystical essence alive. Rosel’s stories will transport you to another time, weaving through the Island’s pastoral landscapes and mist-covered shores. Her voice, soft yet compelling, brings to life these yarns of the Island in ages long past.
Meet Rosel every Wednesday from 10am to 4pm
