Discover the incredible collections in our care and the fascinating stories behind them through a mix of talks, tours and rarely seen items on display.

Displays open at 9am with talks at 10am and additional activity at 11.30am. Every third Saturday of the month at Jersey Archive.

In the month when Saint Valentine is remembered, romance is in the air at Jersey Archive. Hear stories of love through the ages in a talk and see first-hand some of the beautiful items in our care that are related to love. At 11.30am, there will be an additional talk about family history.

Discover the history behind the artworks we care for in a talk and then take a closer look at some of these special pieces on display. At 11.30am, take a behind-the-scenes tour of Jersey Archive, including where the art collection is stored

Delve into the darkness in Jersey’s past with a talk about crime and punishment, revealed through historic records held at Jersey Archive. After hearing the stories, discover the items that bring these dark tales to life. At 11.30am, the mood lightens with a talk about how to undertake house history research.

Discover How Jersey Voted: from battlegrounds to ballot boxes

Saturday, 16 May

As the Island prepares to go to the ballot, hear stories from past elections in a talk that will include all the drama of election day. Take a look at items from our collections that relate to the Island’s political past. At 11.30am, enjoy a talk on palaeography, the art of reading old handwriting.

Discover Destination Jersey: the sunshine island

Saturday, 20 June

Summer is on its way and the busy visitor season lies ahead. Hear stories of the history of tourism in Jersey in a talk and then discover some of the items in our collections that relate to what remains one of the Island’s main industries. At 11.30am, sit back and enjoy footage from tourism films that promoted Jersey in temps passé.

Discover What Lies Beneath: unearthing Jersey's archaeology

Saturday, 18 July

Jersey has a long and rich history that has been unearthed and recorded over centuries. Discover the stories behind the Island’s archaeology in a talk and then take a closer look at some of the artefacts that have been uncovered. At 11.30am, our Museum Conservation team will share the work they carry out to care for these historic items

Discover Jersey's sporting history: from pitch-side to poolside

Saturday, 15 August

For a small Island, Jersey has a big reputation for sporting prowess. Take a whistlestop tour of the Island’s history of sport in a talk that will take you from pitch-side to poolside. Items relating to sport from our collections will be on display for you to discover. At 11.30am, enjoy a talk about the Jersey Evening Post Photo Archive, which captures some of the incredible sporting moments over the year

Discover Jersey's Health History: slums, sewage and sickness

The Island’s history of public health holds plenty of intriguing stories. Hear about them in a talk and then discover the items we hold in our collections that relate to Islanders’ health. At 11.30am, take a behind-the-scenes tour of Jersey Archive to see where we store our historic records and objects.

Discover the truth behind Jersey’s witch trials in a talk that will separate fact from fiction. Take a closer look at the historic documents that record the stories from this chapter of Jersey’s past and learn about the Island’s rich history of folklore. From 11.30am, our Archive Conservators will be on hand to answer questions about your own documents and how to care for them

Christmas is around the corner and long ‘to do’ lists are being written. Enjoy a moment out to discover the history of Jersey’s markets and festive shopping in a talk and see items from our collections relating to shops – although none are for sale! At 11.30am, take a behind-the-scenes tour of Jersey Archive to see where our records and objects are stored.
