The relay race, which is kindly sponsored by TMF, is back by popular demand and takes place on Friday, 11 September 2026 at 12.30pm. It involves relay teams of two running from the shore at West Park out to Elizabeth Castle and back at low tide to raise money for Jersey Heritage.

Graham Thomas, from Jersey Heritage, said: “The ‘Castle Chase 2026’ offers some lunchtime, low-tide, full-throttle fun! It’s a fantastic way to squeeze in a run to your working day while having a great time racing against your colleagues and raising money for a worthwhile cause.

“The trail takes you across sand and into the Castle grounds and back and is suitable for whatever kind of runner you are, whether that’s competitive, a fun runner or simply someone keen to raise money for our charity. Every penny raised goes towards our work to protect, promote and preserve the Island’s incredible history so grab a teammate, lace up and get involved!”

The Elizabeth Castle Ferries will stop while the relay runners take part in the ‘Castle Chase’ but the historic fortress will remain open to the public during the race. Graham said: “We’re sure that visitors at Elizabeth Castle will cheer on the ‘Castle Chase’ competitors and add to the atmosphere that runners can soak up and enjoy as they sprint and splash their way along the route.”

The ‘Castle Chase’, which was last held in 2022, is also supported by Strive, whose staff will be on the beach warming up competitors before they begin the run. Jersey Water are providing a free water station to help runners to stay hydrated.
