The Occupation Tapestry Gallery

The gallery shows 13 panels of the tapestry woven by Islanders, which depicts a life of hardship during the five years of Occupation by German armed forces during the Second World War. Each panel was then woven by one of the twelve parishes which make up the Island.

Stolperstein Trail

A new trail that shares the stories behind 20 Stolpersteine memory stones we installed across the Island last summer is now available online.

The Stolpersteine trail joins other FREE Jersey-themed trails on the Liberation Route Europe (LRE) website.

The memory stones remember victims of Nazi persecution and include Islanders deported for acts of defiance, such as Peter Hassall who was caught attempting to escape; members of the Jewish community, including Erica Richardson who was sheltered by Albert Bedane for two years; and young men sent to Alderney as a punishment for refusing to work for the Occupiers, such as Gordon Prigent.
