Access Statement for Elizabeth Castle

We have created this accessibility guide to accurately describe the facilities and services we offer all our visitors. It does not contain personal opinions as to the sites’ suitability for those with access needs.

Icon showing a all terrain wheelchair For the adventurous we have an MT Push all-terrain wheelchair that is able to traverse the beach and causeway at low tide over to the castle. suitable for any age user with mobility issues to navigate our outside spaces more easily. No need to book, simply ask at the ticket kiosk on arrival or email ahead to info@jerseyheritage.org

The Castle

  • The castle ferry is only accessible to wheelchair users who are able to leave their chair unaided and walk 30m and up/down 6 steps.  Please note the ferry cannot carry electric wheelchairs as cargo for safety reasons.
  • We have a set of evacuation procedures please ask at the castle reception.

Shop

  • The shop is situated in the castle reception area which is accessible via steps

Gardens and grounds

  • Throughout the site the ground is uneven, laid with a mixture of hoggin, tarmac, gravel, grass.

Catering

  • The café has step-free level access, indoor and outdoor seating, some of which is on an outside terrace up some stairs.
  • Counter service available, table service provided on request.
