Meet the Collections gives you the opportunity to see some of the fascinating items in our collections that are not usually on display at one of our sites. With a different theme each month, our collections team will be selecting some of their favourite objects to show you and will be on hand to tell you about these objects, where they came from and what they can tell us about our Island’s history.

That's Entertainment

Saturday, 1 April / 9.30am to 1pm / Sir Francis Cook Gallery

We’ll be exploring local entertainment, from the days when tourism was at its peak and high profile celebrities, bands and entertainers came to Jersey to perform. We’ll have material from our archive and objects from our museum collection on display.

Tours of our social history store will also run at 10am and 11am.

Occupation and Liberation

Saturday, 13 May / 9.30am to 1pm / Sir Francis Cook Gallery

To coincide with Liberation Day earlier in the week, join us at the Sir Francis Cook Gallery and see a variety of objects and documents from this momentous period in our Island’s history, including Red Cross parcels, homemade household items and crystal radio sets.

Tours of our social history store will also run at 10am and 11am.

Meet the Collections

We’ll be bringing along some of our collection connected to farming and rural life and giving you the chance to ask questions about the Island’s farming history.

As part of the Festival of Archaeology, we’ll be showing some of the archaeological treasures from the collection as well as some recent finds.

Come and explore the Bouan Appetit exhibition, and see even more objects relating to Jersey’s history of food and food production.

Deportees

Saturday, 9 September / 9.30am to 1pm / Sir Francis Cook Gallery

In September 1942 over 1,000 people who were not of Jersey birth were deported from the Island to internment camps in Germany. Join us at the Sir Francis Cook Gallery where we will be showing some of the objects, art works, diaries, letters and photographs that were created by the deportees and tell us the story of their experiences.

Learn how medicine has progressed over the years. We’ll have doctor’s and dentist’s tools, medicine bottles, pharmaceutical objects and more for you to take a look at.
