This includes Jersey Museum, Hamptonne, Mont Orgueil Castle, Elizabeth Castle, La Hougue Bie, the Maritime Museum and Jersey Archive.

The decision to close the sites follows official safety advice issued by the Government of Jersey in light of the risks posed by the storm. The charity’s offices will also be shut tomorrow and staff are being asked to work from home.

A decision on when to reopen the sites and offices will be made once any damage and potential ongoing risks have been assessed.

Jon Carter, Jersey Heritage’s Chief Executive, said: “Our first priority is always the safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors. In light of the Government’s safety advice, we have taken the decision to close all of our sites and offices tomorrow. In the meantime, we are battening down the hatches at each of our sites to help to prevent any potential damage. We have a robust disaster plan in place to deal with any emergencies that could arise as a result of Storm Austen.”
