Volumes that are cared for by Jersey Archive often come to us with detached covers and pages and weak bindings after years of use. These books contain many fascinating stories for researchers to discover but they can only be used after conservation treatment has taken place.
Registers giving details of the appointments of Procureurs, or Attorneys, give us an insight into an individual’s legal affairs. Procureurs were often appointed to act on behalf of individuals who were involved in the shipping trade and therefore were frequently absent from the Island. The Procureur was often a qualified lawyer but could also be a member of the individual’s family. Help us enhance the story of our maritime history by adopting our volume which gives details of appointments of Procureurs from 1777-1778. Code D/Y/K5/15
