Introduction

Each room and staircase has slightly uneven flooring, with some areas covered in grass. There are some benches and paces to sit. The rooms are very spacious however the staircases are small within the Keep, there is a rope or metal handrail provided. The top of the Keep can be very cold and windy.  There is a short introductory film on show in the model room which is located inside the 2nd gate in the lower ward and guided tours led by volunteers run on a regular basis throughout the day. There is a small cafe on site offering light refreshments with an outside seating area. The toilets are situated near the cafe in the lower ward, with a toilet also available just outside of the Keep entrance. You should allow at least two hours to visit the Castle.
