Introduction

  • With collections recognised by UNESCO, the Jersey Archive is the Island’s national repository holding records on all aspects of Jersey’s history. Researchers can use archive resources to trace their family history, the story of their house or street and to find out more about the German Occupation of Jersey during the Second World War.
  • Visitors are asked to pre book their appointment and will be met by a member of the archive team at the front reception desk

Pre-arrival

  • Please bring photographic ID on your first visit
  • Pre-booking is advisable before your visit Jersey Archive. Slots should be pre-booked for either a morning or afternoon session on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday or morning session on the third Saturday of the month. To book your slot please email archives@jerseyheritage.org or call 833300.
  • Walking access from the road from St Helier – go up Hill Street to Colomberie then turn into St James Street and up Le Breton Lane
  • Driving access from St Saviour’s Road turn up Pleasant Street and into Clarence Road
  • Liberty Bus operate the local bus service and the main bus station is at Liberation Station, situated on the Esplanade. To find out about bus times and services visit: www.libertybus.je or Tel: 01534 828555 or visit the customer service desk at Liberation Station, St Helier, Jersey JE1 3AS
  • The airport is located in the west of the Island, taxis and a regular bus services run from the airport to Liberation Station

Car Parking and Arrival

  • Free parking on site is available
  • The main entrance and ticket area is situated on the ground floor with step free, level access, throughout
  • The floor surface is slightly uneven and is paved with slabs
  • There is an open plan front of house reception
  • There is a gift shop and toilets on the ground floor
  • Bags and coats are stored in free lockers
  • Hearing Induction loop installed

Public toilets

  • Public toilets, including an accessible toilet, are located on the ground floor with level access from the foyer, and the main entrance area
  • All sanitary ware and tiles are white
  • There is an emergency alarm pull cord located in the accessible toilet
  • There is baby changing unit available in the accessible toilet
  • The toilets are well lit with overhead lighting with the light switch located at the standard height of 1.2m above the floor
  • Flooring throughout all toilets is tiled

Shop(s)

  • The shop is situated on the ground floor and has a flat level access from the main entrance area
  • The shop floor is tiled and slightly uneven
  • The shop sells a range of gifts, books and souvenirs
  • Staff are on hand to provide assistance if required
