Conservation is the physical care of our collections, to ensure their long-term survival, for now and for future generations.
This involves both preventive conservation, through proper storage, display and handling of the collections and interventive conservation, through the repair or treatment of individual items to ensure their long-term survival. In order to achieve this Jersey Heritage employs two professionally qualified conservators who share a fully equipped laboratory. Teams of volunteers work alongside the conservators to assist with the care of our collections.
Preservation Good preventive conservation aims to prevent deterioration of the materials.
