Jersey has been funding international aid and development since 1968 which has had an enormous impact around the world. Over the years Jersey Overseas Aid has funded an impressive record of water, sanitation, health and education projects as well as responding to emergencies and natural disasters.
This exhibition marks 50 years of overseas aid by looking at some of the current projects being funded by Jersey. Discover the amazing story of the Jersey Cow and how it is helping to improve lives in Rwanda. Take a Virtual Reality tour of a flying eye hospital and join a lesson in an African classroom. Learn how projects funded by Jersey are having a real impact on individual lives across the globe and find out about Jersey Overseas Aid’s latest partnership with Comic Relief.
As well as sending money, Jersey has a long legacy of sending volunteers overseas. Since the first work party in 1972, hundreds of Jersey people have donated their time and skills to help others in developing countries. Share the life-changing experience of some of these Jersey volunteers and explore student artwork responding to the theme of ‘Charity’.
A programme of talks, tours and community workshops will run alongside the exhibition in the new visitor centre at Jersey Museum. See the Jersey Heritage website for details.
