The Channel Islands Heritage Festival is held across all of the Channel Islands, between 8th April to 10th May, and this year we will be celebrating our Heroes, delving deep into the local Myths and finding out all about our awesome Legends -  we invite you to come and experience our islands' heritage -  a fantastic month of events, talks, tours and activities. Come and help us celebrate our sometimes peculiar, often fascinating and always absorbing past!

Events will take place across all the Channel Islands. The festival booklet will be available to download here or pick up your printed copy from the Tourist Information Centre.

Heroes of the Coin Hoard

Saturday  8 April

Jersey Museum & Art Gallery

Discover the hidden treasures of Jersey’s Celtic Coin Hoard with Reg Mead and Richard Miles, the metal detectorists who unearthed the hoard in 2012 after a search of more than 30 years.

Love your Castle

Sunday 9 April

Elizabeth Castle

Enjoy a day out on us and come and re-discover Elizabeth Castle.  This family fun day is completely free of charge so join us for a family fun day of music, arts and crafts at the castle.  It’s time to Love your Castle once more.

Donations are welcome and will go towards the Elizabeth Castle  renovation project.

Only around 20% of Jersey Heritage’s collections are on show at any one time and this is where we store the rest.

Heroes of the Great War- a talk by Doug Ford

Local historian Doug Ford relates the story of the Royal Jersey Militia over the centuries from its beginnings in 1336 as a Jersey defence force to the contribution of the Jersey Contingent to the Great War. After the talk there will be a chance to visit the newly-unveiled Memorial Arch that stands opposite Jersey Museum.

Jersey’s Hidden Heroine: the Occupation story of Dorothea Le Brocq

Dr Gilly Carr  tells the extraordinary story of Occupation heroine Dorothea Le Brocq who hid her Jewish friend in her home for 18 months and saved her from almost certain death. In 2016 Dorothea was posthumously recognized as ‘Righteous Among the Nations’ by the State of Israel.

Edmund Blampied: Pencil, Paint and Print

Edmund Blampied (1886-1966) is famous for capturing the spirit of the Jersey way of life and people, particularly in his rural scenes. But he was also responsible for quiet acts of defiance during the German Occupation and this exhibition includes his designs for bank notes in which he cleverly incorporated patriotic symbols like the V for Victory sign and the initials of King George VI.
