For 160 million years, Dinosaurs ruled the earth. Richard Owen named the species of large reptiles in 1842 and since then hundreds of species of dinosaurs have been discovered and named. Some of them were as small as a chicken and some as large as 5 mini buses. Jersey did not exist as an island then but was part of the land called Pangea so even though dinosaurs would have walked over the land where Jersey was, we haven’t found any fossils here. For fossils to form, you need the right type of rock and unfortunately Jersey’s rock is too soft so no fossils have ever been found here in the ground.  These worksheets are for Keystage One students.
