A Countryfile film crew and presenter Matt Baker spent a day filming three Jersey Royal pieces in Jersey recently and we understand that the resulting footage will be broadcast on Sunday 22 May.
Countryfile has over 8.6 million regular viewers in the British Isles and is the highest rated program on terrestrial tv at the moment - so we believe this is a good opportunity to drive sales of Jersey Royals in our target market and attract visitors to our beautiful Island.
Matt Baker introduces his visit to Jersey at Corbiere with a sun lit lighthouse behind him.
The first Jersey Royal segment will be of Jersey Royals being hand lifted on a cotil using a winch and cable.
The second segment will be the weigh-in of the 'Genuine Jersey, Jersey Royal Growing Competition' which was great fun and we hope will demonstrate how passionate Islanders are about our famous new potato.
The third segment will be harvesting Jersey Royals using a large mechanical harvester, the potatoes from which are followed to one of our state of the art pack houses where they are washed, cooled, quality checked and packed. Demonstrating the scale of our export.
The program to be broadcast at 7pm on Sunday 22 May will close back at Corbiere.
