The 500th subscriber, who lives in New Zealand, highlights the popularity and reach that family history research has around the world. People interested in learning more about their family history can do so via the ACO site from the comfort of their own home. Linda Romeril, Archive and Collections Director said: ‘We are delighted that the online catalogue has reached 500 subscribers.
By increasing our online content we have opened up the fascinating and unique stories that we have at Jersey Archive to a new and diverse international audience.’ The impressive library of information available to access includes: registration cards; descriptions of court; States of Jersey and Parish records; information about items held in the Jersey Heritage museum collections and documents supplied by private organisations such as de Gruchy and the Jersey Swimming Club.
Commercial Operations Director Jeremy Swetenham added: ‘The 2015 refresh of the Archive and Collections Online was a toe in the water in preparation for a wider partnership with Ancestry.com which is due to be launched at the end of this year. The response in subscribers and pay-per-view downloads has been remarkable and enables us to re-invest in further digitisation and upload even more records online in 2016. Jersey and its international descendants should be very proud.’
