    There’s plenty to do this year with our programme of family events.


    Interactive learning through our family events programme is a great way to find out more about our Island’s history and is the perfect way to enjoy a fun, family day out.  Here’s what’s coming up this year.

    Royal Week

    30 May to 5 June 10am to 5pm

    Explore Mont Orgueil and Elizabeth Castle and learn about Queen Elizabeth’s history through fun family trails. The week culminates in a Royal picnic at Elizabeth Castle and A Loving History Day at Mont Orgueil. See below for details.

     

    The Queen’s Hat

    4 June 2pm to 5pm

    A grand picnic to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee at Elizabeth Castle. The Queen is famous for her hats so make sure you wear one and bring a picnic that she would be proud of!  No need to book just come and join in – usual entry fees apply, free to non-members. The tide will be out so no need to catch the ferry there and back unless you really need to’

     

    Tudor Day – Loving History

    5 June

    Love your history and celebrate the Queen’s ancestry with the Tudors at Mont Orgueil. Immerse yourself in this fascinating period, brought to life by Tudor characters and fun activities.

     

    A Summer of Fun

    Join Jersey Heritage throughout the summer holidays for creative, inspiring activities at our castles and museums. No need to book, just come along and take part.  Normal entry fee applies.

    25 to 29 July, 11am to 3pm at Elizabeth Castle

    Oodles of Doodles

    Take your imagination for a walk this week at Elizabeth Castle and let your inner child loose, with artist Jooles Holt. With oodles of fun to draw, play and explore with your family and friends, there’ll be plenty of time to colloradoodle and create!

    1 to 5 August, 11am to 3pm at Hamptonne

    Wild Play

    Enjoy playing wild, learn new skills and explore the beautiful surroundings with Stephen who favours unstructured, child led activities using whatever materials are to hand.

    8 to 12 August, 11am to 3pm at Mont Orgueil Castle

    15 to 19 August, 11am to  3pm at La Hougue Bie

    Going Potty

    Pottery is an ancient art form, what better place to spend a few hours creating with clay than at the ancient and beautifully inspiring, La Hougue Bie. Join potter Stuart Copeland who’s enthusiasm for his craft is contagious – he’ll help you create unique artworks to take home.

    Ghoulish Gourds

    24 to 30 October

    Get creative with your gourds! Decorate Hamptonne with your spooky pumpkin creations in the run up to our Ghostly Tales event over the Halloween weekend. Drop your finished pumpkin off at Hamptonne from Monday, 24 October and we’ll announce the winner on Halloween!

     

    Ghostly Tales at Hamptonne

    29 and 30 October

    Jersey folklore is rich with tales of ghosts, monsters and witches. Gather around the fire in Hamptonne House to listen to spine-tingling tales from days of old. Are they myth or legend? That’s for you to decide!

     

    A Traditional Christmas

    17 and 18 December

    Experience an old-fashioned Christmas at Hamptonne Country Life Museum. Dating back to the 15th century, the house and farm are perfect for discovering Christmas traditions of days gone by. You may even find old St Nick warming his boots by the fireside in Hamptonne House.

     

    Be Joyous! 

    15 to 20 December

    Sing your heart out with Jersey Heritage in the run-up to Christmas! Put your ‘to do’ list to one side and join in. It’s not about having the perfect voice but about lifting your spirits and spreading some festive cheer.  Times and locations to be confirmed.
