Bankruptcy Registers give details of all individuals who went bankrupt in the Island, they included those affected by economic downturns such as the Jersey Banking Crashes of the 1870s and 1880s and also those who overstretched their entrepreneurial spirit. The register available for adoption dates from the 17th century and lists all the lands and property owned by the bankrupt individual as well as their debts and creditors. By adopting this register you can help us tell the story of Jersey’s economic past and also the impact of bankruptcy on individuals and families in the Island. Code D/Y/F3/2
