Introduction

The Maritime Museum and Occupation Tapestry Gallery is situated on New North Quay in St Helier, in the heart of Jersey’s harbour area.

The Maritime Museum presents the story of Jersey’s Maritime history, with lots to touch, see and hear. The museum includes displays on the Elements, Boats and People, as well as a small cinema space screening six short films about Jersey’s coast, sea, natural environment and maritime history.

The museum also includes the Occupation Tapestry Gallery showing a display of 13 tapestries created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Jersey. Enthusiasm for the project was such that it became the biggest community project ever to take place on the island and people from all parishes took part in the production of the Tapestry.

The museum is based on two floors and has a lift to the 2nd floor, as well as having two small galleries on a third floor with steps and chair lift. A gift shop is located on the ground floor in the foyer and toilets are also situated on the ground floor.

Visitors are met by a Visitor Services Assistant at the front reception desk and assisted by a volunteer host and occasional guides.

We look forward to welcoming you. If you have any queries or require any assistance please phone 01534 811043 or email info@jerseyheritage.org
