Battle of Jersey

The Battle of Jersey lasted just 15 minutes but defined Jersey’s character for centuries to come. New research on the Battle is explored here in a blow-by-blow account of the day, providing a more comprehensive understanding than has previously been achieved.

This momentous event is captured by The Death of Major Peirson, a painting which speaks of years of conflict and aggression, of an Island struggling to maintain its allegiance to the British Crown and of one man’s heroism and ultimate sacrifice. This book provides an intriguing insight into the way the painting works, offering a deeper understanding of this masterpiece of war art.
