Archaeological Apprentice at La Hougue Bie

Activities free although using an apprentice pack will require a (refundable) £5.00 deposit.
At La Hougue Bie you have the chance to become an apprentice archaeologist and to have a go at discovering some of the skills that are needed when taking part in any archaeological dig. All you have to do is to go to La Hougue Bie any day from 27 July – 8 September and pick up a pack at reception that will have all the tools you need to be an apprentice archaeologist. Find out how to:

•       Record details
•       Measure a piece of history
•       Draw a site
•       Discover objects
•       Discover materials
•       Discover what survives and what decays

You can also complete two quizzes when you are being an archaeologist to discover more about La Hougue Bie and the archaeological objects in the Museum.  Take one of the quiz sheets and travel through time to discover different periods of archaeology and people who have shaped and lived at La Hougue Bie. Discover some amazing objects in the Gallery and take the object trail around the gallery.  Find a woolly rhinoceros skull, stone tools, bronze weapons and coins that tell fascinating stories about Jersey's past.  When you have completed your archaeologist training you will receive a certificate.
