Jersey Heritage Schools Learning

formal learning

Using the Jersey Heritage website, teachers can download valuable learning resources including special worksheets, lesson plans and group activities which can be completed both in the class room and by arranging class trips to the Jersey Heritage visitor sites.

Whether it’s plundering pirates, exploring the Island’s Occupation or finding out how Victorians lived their lives, all of the information you need to plan your trip is available to you within this section of the site.  Stage curriculum and offers teachers (and parents) the materials they need to give learning a local relevance. In order to facilitate the better use of Jersey Heritage sites by self-guided classes, these learning materials are based upon the Jersey Heritage sites and collection, tailored to different Key Stage groups.

Take a look at the 'Let us help you' page for more information, or if you are planning a school visit then all the information can be found here.

Jersey Heritage Learning Together

learning together

We can offer advice on how to best use the museums and sites, how to fit the curriculum in with what we offer and if resources allow we can provide talks and tours to many different places on the Island.

Community

Other community organisations, such as youth clubs and residential centres can enquire about what we have to offer. We are always developing events and exhibitions for everyone who visits our sites.

Families
If you like a bit more action on a visit, we also arrange Discovery Cart days for entertaining the family with a learning ‘twist’.

Living History
If you have ever found yourself at a museum talking to a person from the past and finding out all about life in their era, that’s thanks to us!

The Jersey Heritage Community Learning Team

We make the sites and museums that we look after fun places to be. We make sure there are activities for you to do, people to see, action to ‘WOW’ at, with plenty of learning for schools and families. We also research different aspects of the Island’s history to provide an accurate basis for all the fun things and exhibitions we do. Jersey Heritage uses  the collections and the sites to give meaning to the past. We tell the stories of Jersey and its people and help you to create your own history.
