Staying with Jersey Heritage - Jersey Heritage

Staying with Jersey Heritage

With properties dating from 550 AD, you can be sure you won’t find many other places in the world with as much history as a Jersey Heritage Let. All of our properties have been given a new life; often taken from the brink of decay or collapse and sensitively restored to provide a great home away from home with fully equipped self-catering or a great base for your next adventure in a coastal tower.

Our self-catering accommodation has been comfortably furnished with well equipped kitchens, 100% cotton bed and bath linen and modern bathrooms. Tea, coffee and sugar are all stocked up along with a small selection of toiletries, and for those visiting from outside the Island we provide a welcome pack of Genuine Jersey milk, bread and butter. Many of our properties also have wood burning stoves or open fires, for which we provide logs. Due to their stunning locations and unique features, you will soon discover these are not your average holiday homes, however all have been restored with care taken to furnish each one to suit its quirky layout. Due to their remote locations, most of our properties do not have wi-fi access and some do not have television signal, but we do provide DVD players with every self-catering property.

If you’re looking for more of an adventure then our more rustic coastal tower properties  provide a great escape from everyday life. These towers are iconic and often seen in landscape images from the island; ranging from Seymour Tower standing two miles off the east coast, to quaint guardhouses which are perfect for a weekend surf trip on Jersey’s rugged west coast. Each property has different facilities, but all have locations which are hard to beat and are available for a minimum of 2 nights.

What should you bring?

Self-catering properties

With any self-catering property there are the basics you need to bring with you. Whilst we provide tea, coffee, sugar, soap, a small cleaning pack, logs for fires, bed linen, hairdryers, bathroom towels and kitchen cooking essentials there are a few recommendations for what to bring with you to make the most out of your stay.

Beach bag – filled with everything you will need to make the most of Jersey’s beautiful beaches, including beach towels.

Water sports – Jersey is well known as a water-sports paradise, so make sure you bring any surf boards, body boards and wetsuits.

Binoculars – from the dolphin pods on the east coast to the world-renowned bird watching at La Mare au Seigneur in St Ouen’s Bay, and the views from the top of Radio Tower at Corbiere across to the iconic lighthouse, a pair of binoculars means you will never miss a thing!

Wellington boots – Jersey is full of spectacular walks through fields and wooded valleys.

Walking boots – With fifty miles of coastal cliff paths, and another fifty of green lanes walking boots are a must for the intrepid explorer, especially if you’re staying at Fort Leicester or La Crête Fort.

A good book – essential for any holiday, but there is nothing better than a wood burning stove or fire tucked up with a good book and a cup of tea.

DVD’s and board games – for those family nights in you may want to bring a DVD with you if you’re staying at one of our self-catering properties or a good old fashioned board game to enjoy.

Torches – although most of our properties have electrical lighting and torches, we do recommend bringing your own.

Water – Due to their historical nature or coastal location, some of our properties do not have access to running water or are on a bore-hole system. You will be advised on booking if we recommend bringing water with you or buying it locally. Please note bore-hole water is suitable for cooking and bathing.

Basic accommodation/coastal towers

For our more basic, coastal tower properties we recommend all of the above as per our self-catering items, with some additional extras.

Food provisions – Our Coastal Towers are a great base for your next adventure, but no explorer can venture out without suitable provisions. We do not provide any food or refreshments at our Coastal Towers.

Disposable barbeque – Bring along a barbeque to cook your food during your stay.

Sleeping bags, pillows and camp beds – Some of our coastal towers do have beds, so to ensure a comfy night’s sleep please ensure you bring along any bed linen you will need.

Toilet roll – Whilst most of our Coastal Towers are located near a public toilet, for which we supply a key where necessary, an essential part of our packing should include toilet roll for when nature calls!
