Public Records

 

Jersey Archive holds over 250,000 public records from the States of Jersey Departments, Parishes and Administrations. These records have been transferred to the Jersey Archive under the Public Records (Jersey) Law 2002 and include documents from 1378 to the present day.

 

Public Records held at the Archive include the following collections:

 

Lieutnant Governors Archive - including letter books and defence records from the late 18th centuty.

 

Bailiff's Chambers Archives - including material from the Occupation period.

 

States of Jersey - including minutes of the States Assembly and Committees, laws and reports. 

 

States Departments - including records of public buildings in the Island, hospital and prison admisisons, education, immigration, planning, tourism, shipping registers, Jersey Meteorological Office and Treasury.

 

Judicial Greffe - including records of the Royal and Magistrates Courts, transfers of property and wills.

 

Civil Parishes - including records of parish welfare, rates, roads committees and Acts of the Parish Assembly.
