Private Records

 

Jersey Archive holds private archive collections from local businesses, clubs and associations, charities, families and individuals. These collections can consist of a single letter or diary from the Occupation period or a Manorial Collection dating from the 14th century. Private collections at Jersey Archive are divided into the following categories:

 

Business Records - include the records of A de Gruchy and Company, Voisins Limited, Noel and Porter and Funeral Directors Pitcher and Le Quesne.

 

Legal Records - includes the records of Crills Advocates.

 

Personal and Estate Collections - includes manorial collections such as Trinity and La Hague manors, large private collections such as the Pipon, de Carteret and La Cloche papers and smaller collections of Occupation diaries and red cross messages.

 

Clubs and Associations - includes collections of the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society, the Channel Islands Occupation Society, the Jersey Swimming Club, the RNLI and Masonic Lodges.

 

Miscellaneous collections - includes a series of important Civil War documents collected by the States of Jersey, rente and fief books, Jersey Charters and bills of sale for ships.
